Co-founding Alcopop! Records in his bedroom back in 2008 with a 3-figure loan gambled on a football match, Jack (along with partner Kev) has grown the label from extremely humble beginnings, to one of the most cherished and respected indie record labels on the UK scene.
Former AIM Award winners, and pioneers in creative thinking over big budgets, Alcopop! has overseen the rise and rise of some incredibly important bands in the UK (Art Brut, Indoor Pets, johnny foreigner, TIGERCUB, Pulled Apart By Horses, CHERYM, BO NINGEN, The Subways, Problem Patterns) – as well as making waves in Europe and beyond with the likes of Kississippi, Nelson Can, DZ Deathrays, Anamanaguchi, and more.
Famous for being the first label to pioneer podcasts on vinyl (with The QI Elves and Corey Taylor of Slipknot fame), as well as a catalogue now almost 200 releases old, the label has reached far and wide to make the most of all sorts of opportunities. Highlights include releasing a compilation on a fixie bike, pressing asteroid dust into Emperor Yes’ debut space-pop LP, and releasing political protest single ‘The Wit and Wisdom of Nigel Farage’ on completely blank 7” with Enter Shikari.
Building a team from the ground up, Alcopop! is no stranger to the media – with an in-house press team and wider support network of pluggers, managers, artists, designers, visual editors, merchandisers, and distributors ensuring that the label covers all bases when it comes to promoting their records. With top 10 records in plenty of different countries and charts, Jack has previously taken part in trade missions and conferences in Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Israel, and more.
In his spare time, Jack teaches a record label course at SMB (The School of Music Business) and has undertaken one-off lectures at the likes of BIMM, ACM, Birmingham Uni, and Bucks.
