More than just a typical band, Taqbir is a full-fledged manifesto and a battle cry for independence, freedom, and resilience. This punk band hides their faces and does not use their names publicly, thus avoiding threats and police arrests resulting from the repression suffered by the punk scene in Morocco... even more so, of course, if you are also a woman, as is the case. After a debut with a title as explicit as “Victory Belongs To Those Who Fight For A Right Cause,” this past May they returned to the fray with an EP of songs and styles as urgent as they are explosive.
