Following an artistic residency with Portuguese producer Pedro Da Linha, supported by our sister festival MIL Lisboa, Porto’s Álvaro Romero embarked on a new musical journey after his acclaimed project RomeroMartín. Thus was born Yeli Yeli, a project where the rawest flamenco roots merge with urban electronic productions inspired by African rhythms. It’s like cante jondo hitting the town with kuduro. After making its debut at an Alhambra Monkey Week, Yeli Yeli has taken its expanded flamenco to a metallic horizon at events like the Festival Flamenco in London and Madrid’s Fiestas de la Hispanidad.
